Building Studio Architects offices

For our new 1,200 sq.ft. office, we wanted a workplace suffused by light.  The raw space in a prewar  Garment Center loft building is left more or less as is, with concrete-encased beams, concrete floors, and exposed sprinklers and wiring.  We used affordable, durable materials for the few architectural interventions we made.  A central island, two large rolling doors, and the reception desk enclosure are made of raw aluminum plate. The one partition between the conference space and the office is ribbed glass. The central island creates a common work surface for collaboration and informal meetings.
