Cool Spa

Cosmetic surgery and interior design both work with appearances and both demand a mastery of reinvigorating tired structures and systems. While adhering to budget, this new medical office on Fifth Avenue in the Flatiron district is very much an exercise in smooth, seamless surfaces to elevate the space consistent with the practice’s branding.

  • Cool Spa: the name conveys it all. “Cool” for the non-surgical techniques used to re-sculpt the body; “Spa” conveys the high-end, pampered experience. We translated this identity into a space that seems to float, with minimal articulations, an elegant, quiet, and modern space within a tired ageing pre-war office building with exposed ceilings.

The new aluminum and textured glass wall become the focus of the space, directing the visitor to the reception desk and waiting area while providing privacy for the procedure rooms.

The white seamless Corian desk continues the minimalist theme receding into the all-white space. Linear LED lighting reinforces circulation paths, with accent elements and a dramatic lighting fixture providing pause at the entry and waiting area. The procedure rooms were transformed with new ceilings, monitors, mirrors, and cabinets.
