CSAIR

Conservative Synagogue Adath Israel of Riverdale (CSAIR), housed in a beautiful mid-century Brutalist brick and concrete building by noted synagogue architect Percival Goodman, asked us to help them expand and renovate their building, with a focus on adding classroom and meeting spaces and improve accessibility for the disabled. The design, a product of extensive community meetings and involvement, will add a new library/multipurpose space, renovate an existing chapel and lower level lobby, and provide full handicapped accessibility. The new work celebrates the existing architecture, bringing its modern aesthetic into the new and renovated spaces. Restoration of existing finishes and clearing away subsequent additions will allow the original design to shine through.
