Historic Preservation

Since 1992, Building Studio Architects has been dedicated to preserving and restoring historic buildings across the NY/NJ/CT tristate region. Our team’s technical expertise and deep understanding of architectural history and early construction techniques have enabled us to successfully preserve significant old buildings and breathe new life into them.

Our commitment to preservation has garnered recognition. In 2010, partner Michael Goldblum, was appointed as a commissioner for the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. He became a board member at the Historic House Trust of New York in 2015, and currently chairs its Preservation Committee. This wealth of experience and leadership informs Building Studio’s projects, with Partner John Field now at the helm of all the firm’s New York City preservation work.

This portion of our portfolio exemplifies our commitment to an urban environment that both speaks to its historic past and evolves to support its present reality.
