Greek Revival House
A new-old house, lovingly detailed in the Greek Revival style, is created for a young family in Riverdale. Allusions to literary and architectural history infuse this richly appointed two-story reconstruction of a nondescript 1950s ranch. A gracious Doric front porch leads into a foyer and dramatic three-story-high, sky-lit stair hall. Meticulously detailed woodwork graces both the exterior and interior with Greek Ionic and Corinthian columns at the stair hall, a custom mantelpiece and decorative window in the living room, a vaulted, paneled dining room, and custom enabled wood kitchen cabinets. Antique stained glass and art tiles complement the owners’ extensive collection of Asian antiques and artwork created by family members. Five bedrooms and a private master study fill the second floor.
