Whittle HQ in partnership with RPBW Architects

Whittle Schools & Studios is the renowned international private school system serving children from ages 3-18 years old. In designing their new corporate headquarters, we partnered with Renzo Piano Building Workshop. Whittle’s new offices are located in Midtown Manhattan. Overlooking Bryant Park, the full floor was designed to maximize openness and to take advantage of its amazing midtown skyline views.

The entire office acts as a model for Whittle’s educational approach, exemplifying for visiting families the qualities of their campus model: welcoming, collegial open spaces, technology-forward conference rooms, and sensitivity to the global environment.

The new headquarters features glass office walls that open up the space. Custom birch panels, doors, and millwork add warmth to the office’s raw, exposed finishes, including the fireproofed steel structure above and diamond-ground sealed concrete floors underfoot.  Acoustic “clouds” rhythmically march down the open space creating -along with a sophisticated sound masking system – a controlled, quiet ambiance. Customized “rugs” create more intimate areas within the space.
