Restoration Wraps Up for Colonial House and Contemporary Spa Addition
We are proud to share new images from a recent custom home renovation and addition that we recently completed. Kudos to photographer Ashok Sinha for these lovely images.
The project involved the historic restoration of a charming Colonial Revival house, and an expansion that included a new in-ground heated pool and deck, with an all-new pool house/cabana wing. The modern design of the pool house both contrasts with and plays off of the historic house: its contemporary, sleek forms are new and fresh, but the use of local fieldstone, red rift oak, and cement stucco tie the addition back to the house.
Built in 1928 by Julius Gregory, this stucco and stone Colonial Revival historic home possessed warmth, detail and richness in a relatively modest 3,500-sq.ft. package. Our clients, avid athletes and swimmers, sought both a meticulously detailed home renovation and to expand it with a new private pool and home spa to suit their needs.
The house itself underwent a thorough, careful historic preservation of its stone and stucco exterior and detailed interiors, while creating an interior renovation including a new, larger kitchen, and adding a new yoga room in a former garage. The entire basement was also renovated to create exercise/play space. The second floor, tight under the steeply pitched roof, was nearly fully re-planned, with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a skylit gallery.
