Rockefeller Center

We are honored to be working with noted property owners Tishman Speyer on a variety of upgrades and improvements in Rockefeller Center, the landmarked Art Deco office complex in Midtown Manhattan.

One notable project is the lobby renovation for 50 Rockefeller Center, a landmark building with the Isamu Noguchi artwork over the door. We served as Architect of Record, partnering with interior designers Studio Mellone for this revitalization and transformation.

  • One of the owners’ goals for the complex is to reimagine the office building for the post-covid era.  One way to do it is to repurpose lobbies, thinking of them like hotel lobbies; where people linger and meet, maybe have a quick snack.  To that end, the interior design reduces the prominence of reception desks and security, and foregrounds lounge furniture set in conversation areas. New décor emphasizes the Art Deco legacy of the building, with antique bronze detailing, lighting and color schemes accentuating the connection to existing finishes to remain.

Like hotel lobbies, environmental amenities unusual for offices were added: astronomic color correcting lighting, concealed audio, and olfactory generators are some of the novel features added here. The mirrored rear elevator lobby incorporates sleek wood café tables and chairs where people can chat and have breakout meetings without leaving the building.

Our CapEx (Capital Expenditure) services for Tishman Speyer range from pre-build office spaces, customized build to suit spaces for current and new tenants, as well as high profile public facing team projects.
